Lab Questions:
  1. Is the meter, centimeter, or millimeter more useful for measuring the length and width of your classroom? Why?
  2. Which metric unit would you use to measure the thickness of a nickel? Why?

  4. a. How do you convert m to cm? cm to mm? b. How do you convert mm to cm? cm to m?
Critical thinking:
  1. Why is it easier to convert meters to centimeters or millimeters than it is to change yards to feet or inches?
  2. Using a metric ruler, student x measured the length of an object to the nearest tenth (0.1) of a centimeter while student Y measured to the nearest cm. Which measurement is more accurate? why?
  3. Explain how you might set up your own system of measurement using a length of string. Refer to your metric unit of measurement as an arak.
